Great photos! Love the scenery and animals. Sometimes I think the simple things in life are best. And the best places can't be found in guides. I remember there were monkeys that used to climb the trees at one of the places I stayed in Brazil. It's been some time since I traveled but now I want to go again. It might take a while but maybe someday.

I agree with you, David, places to visit do not need to be "universally known". For example: everybody wants to visit Venice. But when you are there you even cant walk with your feet: the crowd does not allow you to move, you have to "go" with it. And it's terrible. Last time I was there, even the secondary streets were such full.

I dreamed to visit Munchen (Germany) for Octoberfest but my friend from there told me to absolutely avoid it for the same reason: imagine the crowd of terribly drunk people, she said. In what condition are they in and what behavior they have...

Mass tourism has it's bad sides.

Yeah, I can only imagine. It's like when everyone has the same idea at the same time. I think your friend was right. Sometimes you want to enjoy things like that, like I wanted to go to Carnival in Brazil but the trip wasn't that time of year. It might've been similar, with people everywhere, but I would have wanted to see it just to experience it. But there's also something to be said for the out of the way places that let you appreciate nature or the country in a different way. Either way, I guess it's great as long as you enjoy yourself. I've been to London, Paris and Madrid. Hopefully I'll get to Italy one day too.
