One of the most special signs of the Valley D’Aosta region of Italy is its castles. Many of them are visible from the road if we come by car or train. I counted those in the central valley and came to the impressive figure of more than 40. And probably these were not all, but the best known. Some are restored and look very nice, others are relatively well-preserved even if they can be closed so as not to create dangerous situations.

There are also ruins that you can barely see, and you only find them if you went looking. For more than a year, I've been looking for stories that are related to castles, and I've been going to visit them. I'll tell you about my latest discoveries.
Returning after the walk in Val di Rhemes, I learned that the following Saturday the castle of Introd will be open for visits. I could not miss this opportunity.
This is why this Saturday I put everything aside and got ready for the trip. This means that I have studied the area in order to use all the time available to see as much as possible. And so my list of places to visit was the following: a walk in Valgrisenche valley in the morning because I still was not in that valley, Montmayeur castle, Châtel-Argent di Villeneuve, Introd castle.
