White Wine? Red? Rosé? No, ORANGE, please!
First of this year event dedicated to wine producers and their wines returned to Biella, BiWine – Biellese wine territory 2023. There were more than 35 producers who presented 100 wines produced here
I have been participating in this kind of event for many years, first because I worked with producers as an external export office for the Russian market in the Campania region, and then I wrote articles about the wines of northern Italy. But I didn't know that these events are also organized in Biella where I live now.
So I couldn't miss an event that had to introduce me not only to the producers themselves but also to their last inventions.
Normally, you pay €15-20 per ticket to enter the event. You receive a wine glass in a purse that is hung around the neck. After this, you approach the producers to taste their wines.
After tasting, rinse your glass with water and throw this water into the appropriate container. This is to put the new wine into a glass that has no taste of another wine. For this reason that there are also tastings of crackers or sometimes cheeses, and cold cuts - after a few tastings you have to eat something to have a "clean" mouth.
The really valuable discovery I made this time was orange wine. On the bottle, it is written that it is white wine. And indeed it is. This wine has a wonderful orange colour because it is made according to the processing of red wine. Red wine and white wine are made according to different technologies. And so these white grapes are made like the red ones. This is why we have this colour.
There were two producers with this kind of wine this time.
And some words about my favourite wine - Passito. I was sure that normally, Passito is done of Erbaluce. And it’s EXCELLENT for my taste. This wine was created from Nebbiolo, red grapes. But I show you all the 4 wines of this producer because they were so good and they were very different from each other. I must visit the company when I am next in their area and take this wine home.

Well, next weekend there is another wine event not too far from my home. :-)))
