A Haven for Hikers and Adventure Enthusiasts
In a world filled with endless crises, serious illnesses, and a chronic lack of work, people are turning back to traditional professions, offering us the experience of being close to nature
Located amidst the stunning beauty of the mountains, this remote mountain restaurant enjoys immense popularity among hikers and adventure enthusiasts. This hidden gem offers a unique dining experience that perfectly complements the thrill of exploring the rugged wilderness.
Nestled in the heart of nature, the restaurant provides a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Its serene ambiance and breathtaking views make it an ideal destination for those seeking solace and serenity.
The owners are young. Young people today prefer working in contact with nature. I don't know how it is in your country, but in Italy, it is very difficult to find a permanent job, especially for young people, who are often underpaid and exploited. Many of them return to traditional occupations. They manage farms with attached restaurants, work as shepherds, and raise farm animals. Yet, they approach these jobs with a sense of creativity. Make them beneficial for their families, but also beautiful and interesting.
Reach This Restaurant From Antagnod
Two days ago, my friends had a brilliant idea of having lunch at a restaurant located at a high altitude. We checked: 2100 meters above sea level. The catch is that there is no way to get there except by walking up a path to that place. There is a road, but it seems that in summer or during this period it was closed, so there was nothing to do but walk!
Some might think that the restaurant is empty, but that's not the case. There were so many people that we, who booked on the phone, had to look for a table. The mountains during this time are filled with hikers coming and going. Some on foot, some by bike, some on horseback. Tables inside, tables outside, even quite far away, near the stables. With this sun in the last days of August, it was nice to sit on the ground or sunbathe on the deck chairs.
This is the Best Period To Visit Champoluc
Owners of this company don't just have these pastures with the restaurant in the middle. They also have vineyards near Lake Viverone and the wine they sell is produced by them.Â
Curious is how they decided to serve their dishes (the main course is obviously polenta). They don't use plates, but paper packages. Honestly, it was uncomfortable, but it is clear that it is more practical since the visitors are hikers.
The flyer stated that the milking would take place at 3.30 pm, and the hikers were invited to attend. By this time, everyone had finished eating and was directed towards the stables. The 400 sheep, which were not far away sunbathing, arrived at the stables at 3 pm and impatiently waited for their turn.
We left the restaurant last and looked around to see what animals they had. It was very interesting to see the pigs rolling around in the sunshine. Did you know that pigs have very delicate skin that burns easily in the sun? These pigs were all almost red. Who knows if the owners have to put some kind of after-sun cream on them in the evening?
Other Curious B&B You Can Find Here
This region of Italy does everything possible to make tourists feel good and have fun. There are many events, attractions, and well-signposted and equipped paths. To go down, we decided to follow the canal created by the industrious mountaineers in the 16th century to bring water to their villages scattered throughout the valley. This canal had guard houses that were supposed to keep watch to ensure all was well. I always marvel at how these people managed to survive in the most hostile places for humans.
Going back to this and other similar restaurants, cheese factories, dairies, and so on is undoubtedly a challenging task. Especially for someone who has spent their entire life in the city. However, perhaps it's a pleasant and fulfilling experience.
