Discover Orange Wines And Their Unique Taste
Visiting Italy also means discovering its wines. Thanks to the climatic conditions that allow the growth of vines and a particular richness and variety of soils, Italy boasts a great wealth of wines.
Wine and cuisine are indispensable for travel lovers and even for walks not too far from our home. Taste the products of the area where they are produced, create an additional flair, cover of romance, and intimacy with the place. Very often, at least in Italy, the chefs in the kitchens of local restaurants also use ingredients produced in this area. This ensures not only their authenticity, but also an absolutely special taste that can only be obtained here. We can also say the same about local wines.
If I have this possibility, I always try to taste the local dishes by choosing restaurants away from the main tourist flows. Although sometimes this is not the best choice. Not all people are the same — this is why.

It happened to me — once, to tell the truth — that the owner gave me yesterday's leftovers (I think so — I want to be correct). And I felt bad about it. Also, it is a highly publicized place, far enough from where I live, I mean it took me a long time to get there, and I had dreamed of visiting it so much… It doesn't take much to ruin a romantic impression.

Returning to the wines.
The wine industry is very prosperous here. Ancient Romans introduced the cultivation of wine in all the areas they conquered. First on the territory of present-day Italy and then beyond. Of course, both the cultivation of vines and the wine production technique were different. Nevertheless, there are still similar technologies.
By the way, grapes are not a native plant to Italy. The Greeks brought plants when they colonized the southern parts of it. That is more or less the 6th century. b. C. The Greeks sent their young people to create new cities. They also provided plants to grow in their colony to facilitate their new life. Those were grapes and olives.
The life of a winemaker is anything but easy today. As if “natural” problems weren't enough, consumers are now demanding. We love to find something new, and special. Not only do we enjoy the wine, but when we visit the cellars, we are also curious to see the producers reveal their “secrets” to us. These secrets include barrels with new varieties of wines, special places where the grapes “ripen,” and much more.
Of particular interest to wine lovers are the wine fairs, which are also quite numerous in Italy. There are so many that you can find one to visit during your trip in every season, I believe. Spring and autumn are particularly popular. Take VinItaly, for example.
It is at these fairs that producers showcase their innovations. Last year, at the fair in Biella I made a delightful discovery: orange wine. This unique-colored wine is very pleasant, by the way. Two wines of this type were exhibited there, which was new to me since I had never seen it before.
Orange wine is technically white wine. The grapes have been treated in a specific way to achieve this vibrant color.
This style of wine experienced a rediscovery between the 1980s and 1990s and is now one of the most appreciated and sought-after. I like that there are at least two producers of orange wine in Biella , where I currently reside. One day, I plan to write about one of them, as I also know the owner as a volunteer in a local museum.
