Adding life to life. Merry Christmas!
When there is a destination, even the desert becomes a road
I wish you a joyous holiday season filled with warmth, love, and the magic of Christmas.
December is not the best time to walk to avoid the cold, especially this year, when everyone has caught a cold, and the cough will last for months. But if the days are sunny, the temperature rises even in the high mountains, and you can easily remove your jacket when you are there.
The strong wind lifts clouds and snow from the tops of the mountains, which is very interesting to observe. In this photo, the pick in the center shows how the wind moves snow to the other mountain. I had never noticed this phenomenon before I moved to this region.
If you are not a skier like me (the last time I put on skis was in Minsk, when at the university they sent us skiing during physical training hours, that is, in 1980), you probably prefer sunny spots or museums where there is heating. Or, like my cats, try to sleep when it’s possible.
Big cities are probably more attractive to somebody. There is something magic in the perspectives - here you see Milan. I know Milaneses who live their adult lives in the little towns and could never accept them because they do not have a life. And, once, I found a godforsaken village in the mountains where you can't count even 60 people on the entire mountain in autumn and winter. You can't get there without a car, and even then, it takes about two hours in good weather where a resident of Milan went on retirement - and she is happy to death with such a life and company.
I think the forest is very beautiful in the winter. It's not as oppressive as you might think. On the contrary, winter colors are not so beautiful in the forest, but the absence of leaves on the trees allows you to see what you will never see in the summer. In recent years, I haven't wanted to be cold, so I have had different plans for the winter: I like to walk in the woods. Choose a sunny side of the mountain and a day with good weather.
“What do we usually do on the street? We dream. It is one of the most meditative places of our time, our modern sanctuary, the Street.”
“True morality consists not in following the beaten path, but in finding one's way and following it courageously.”
“The road to our destination is not always straight. We take the wrong path, get lost, and turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark on it.”
With these quotes, I would like to add a destination to our journey and wish again fantastic holidays and a road that makes us dream. Merry Christmas!
